2025 Global Energy Interconnection Conference
On September 26, 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed a visionary initiative at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit— “to establish Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) to meet global power demand with clean and green alternatives.” This marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the undertaking of GEI. In response, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) was established to advance this vision. Over the past decade, GEIDCO has brought together global efforts and offered solutions for sustainable and low-carbon development worldwide.
Ten years of commitment have yielded fruitful results. The concept of GEI—featuring clean energy dominance, electricity-centered development, extensive interconnection, intelligence, and efficiency—has evolved into a widely recognized global consensus and collaborative actions. It plays an increasingly vital role in building a community with a shared future for humanity, advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and supporting global carbon neutrality goals. GEI contributes wisdom and practical pathways to address major global challenges such as energy transition, climate change, and biodiversity conservation. It actively drives the shift towards new energy and power systems, accelerates the development of digital-intelligent resilient power grids, and serves as a strong catalyst for global cooperation and innovation.

We are delighted to invite you to the 7th Global Energy Interconnection Conference, to be held on September 8–10, 2025, at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Under the theme “Global Energy Interconnection: Meeting Global Power Demand with Clean and Green Alternatives” , the conference will feature a high-level plenary session, 20 parallel forums, a large-scale exhibition, and the release of key flagship publications and international standards—including the Global Electricity Development and Transition Report 2025. Over 1,000 participants from more than 40 countries—including government officials, leaders of international organizations, industry pioneers, and distinguished experts—will gather to share insights and build momentum for a greener, more connected energy future.
This conference is both a celebration of the achievements of the past ten years and a launching pad for the decade ahead.
