Background

The 3rd Asia-Pacific Energy Week will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from October 16th to 20th, 2023. As an official event during the energy week, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) and the Institute for Sustainable Energy Transformation Studies (ISETS), will jointly host a High-Level Forum "Connecting a Net Zero Future: Grid interconnection and Energy Collaboration in Asia Pacific." The event will be held at 9:00 AM local time on October 17th (10:00 AM Beijing time) at United Nations Conference Centre at CR3 in Bangkok.

The Asia-Pacific region is one of the fastest-growing regions in terms of global energy demand and also faces significant pressure for carbon emissions reduction. As countries in the region actively address climate change and set net-zero emission targets, the development and utilization of renewable energy and cross-border grid interconnection have become key drivers for sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. This conference will delve into critical issues related to regional power interconnection and zero-carbon transformation, while sharing best practices and case studies of clean energy development in the Asia-Pacific region. Participants will include ministers and senior officials from member countries of the ESCAP, as well as renowned figures from enterprises, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, multilateral organizations, and academia.
