The power interconnection in Asia-Pacific region is an important aspect of regional infrastructure development and innovation, and is a guarantee for accelerating the region’s low-carbon transformation. It can facilitate the widespread sharing of high-quality clean energy resources and ensure a clean, safe, economical, and efficient power supply, promoting the growth of related industries and regional cooperation. This, in turn, can effectively address climate change and protect the ecological environment.
Under the guidance of Global Energy Interconnection, with the goal of addressing global climate change, this report describes the basic idea of future power interconnection in the Asia-Pacific region in three parts. The first part is “Current Situation”. Under the trend of global green transformation, it analyzes the achievements of the Asia-Pacific region in economic and social development, international cooperation, power system development, power technology and other aspects. The second part is “Opportunities”. Focuses on the economic and industrial development potential of the Asia-Pacific region, it analyzes the economic development policies, industrial planning of various countries, and evaluates the development potential of clean energy resources in the Asia-Pacific region. The third part is “Outlook”. It studies the trend of power supply and demand development in the Asia-Pacific region, and innovatively proposes a new concept of coordinated development of electricity and hydrogen. Based on the low-carbon development vision of all countries in the region, and with the purpose of promoting the efficient development and utilization of clean energy, the overall plan for power interconnection in the Asia-Pacific region and the road map for regional power interconnection are proposed.
