On September 26th, 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) initiative at the UN Sustainable Development Summit. Over the past two years, thanks to the active participation and support of all parties, GEI has evolved from a China's initiative to a global action, not only playing an important role in acceleration of energy transition and implementation of green and low-carbon development, but also bringing new opportunities to scientific research, talent cultivation and college innovative development.

On the occasion of the third anniversary for the proposal of GEI Initiative, Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) and Shandong University will co-host the Global Energy Interconnection and College Innovative Development Forum. With more than 400 participants expected, including the presidents, teachers and students of the world-famous universities, and the representatives from relevant governmental departments, international organizations and enterprises, the Forum provides a great venue for in-depth exchanges on energy interconnection, the Belt and Road Initiative, scientific research innovation, universities' missions, duty of youth and other subjects.
